In Defence of Blogging

If you care about Blogging, please go along to the Liberal Conspiracy website and, if you agree (as I hope you do), sign the excellent letter there.

  1. I read Baroness Buscombe's speech and in it I couldn't find anything that suggested she wanted the PCC to regulate blogs.

Ian Burrell said in Independent Minds:

"She said that after a review of the governance structures of the PCC, she would want the organisation to "consider" whether it should seek to extend its remit to the blogosphere, a process that would involve discussion with the press industry, the public and bloggers (who would presumably have to volunteer to come beneath the PCC's umbrella)."

    See: http://ianburrell.independentminds.livejournal.com/8357.html

    But that's only one source.

I think the reaction to this is all a bit premature. People are reacting not to what she said, but to what someone said she said. (Don't lawyers call that hearsay?)

  2. Not to be mean but that letter could use some serious sub-editing.
